TRTL Education Team Training

Abortion

Level 1: Speaking

To bring on speakers who can give the core hour-long abortion presentation.

  1. Volunteer Application Form
  2. Background reading/watching
  3. Pro-life Apologetics Training
    • offered regularly in partnership with UTSFL
    • training from CCBR, NCLN, CLCY also counts
  4. Dialogue-based activism experience strongly encouraged
    • good preparation for apologetics in practice, especially preparing for Q&A dialogue with students
    • encouraged to participate in or at least observe UTSFL Activism Team with “Choice” Chain or QA Project
      • UTSFL “Choice” Chain also a chance to observe education team members, debrief, and get a sense for their experience, confidence, and skill
      • QA Project also a good opportunity for dialogue, though difficult to monitor and assess performance of new recruits with one-on-one conversations and less TRTL presence
  5. Education Team workshop
    • when ready, two team members are hand-selected to give mock presentations
    • participation from whole education team:
      • test audience / focus group for new presenters
      • debrief to refine content and presenters
  6. Crisis Pregnancy Preparation
    • e.g. Enza or Linda
    • FIXME just rotating part of workshop? Or separate thing?
  7. Mentorship
    1. First, presentation shadowing (observing and debriefing with an experienced speaker)
    2. Then, giving presentations, with mentor observing and joining up front for Q&A

Level 2: Apologist/Leader

Opportunities for more involvement in not only speaking, but training

  1. Leadership
    • We can hand-pick a different team member to give the morning keynote at the SLL Conference each year
    • Our best and experienced presenters can mentor rookies on Level 1
  2. Apologetics/Dialogue Training
    1. Shadow apologetics/dialogue training
    2. Tag team an apologetics/dialogue training, by delivering part but not all of the presentation with an existing apologist
    3. Lead an apologetics training session
    4. Train and mentor new apologists
  3. Facilitating an Education Team workshop
