[Classroom] Introduction to Abortion Apologetics
Elective abortion unjustly ends the life of an innocent human being.
- Intentionally killing an innocent human being is a serious moral wrong;
- Elective abortion is the intentional killing of an innocent human being;
- :. Elective abortion is a serious moral wrong
Most people agree with the first premise, so the critical question regarding the second premise becomes: what is the unborn?
If the unborn is not a human being, no justification for elective abortion is necessary. But if the unborn is a human being, no justification for elective abortion is adequate.
The circumstances surrounding abortion are often practically, psychologically, emotionally, socially, economically complex, but they are not morally complex. The issue is whether one may kill an innocent human being as a way of dealing with difficult life circumstances.
